From the Dolomites in the north to Venice – an unforgettable trip. The Dolomites, are a superb section of the Alps, that lie in the north east of Italy and have been quite rightly declared as a natural heritage site by UNESCO.

You will cross the valley of Höhlenstein and its famous “three peaks” before passing by the city of Cortina d' Ampezzo, which hosted the 1956 winter Olympics. It is also renowned for the classic 1963 Pink Panther which was filmed there, as well as the memorable James Bond stunt sequence in 1981's For your eyes only , where gunners on spike-wheeled motorcycles chasing Roger Moore on skis, was filmed on its slopes. Following the old railroad you will reach Pieve di Cadore, where the painter, Titian was born c. 1485. Have a look at the “Palazzo della Magnifica Comunita” built in 1447. Pass by the towns of Belluno, Bassano del Grappa, Asolo before following along the Sile river until you reach Venice and the sea.


Program
Day 1 Arrival and installation at your hotel
Arrival during the day in the valley of Hochpustertal. Find your hotel and settle in. A private car park is available for the duration of your holiday. Hand-over of your route notes and other information will take place at 1800 hours.

Day 2 Hochpustertal - Cortina
From Dobbiaco you will start to cycle in the valley of Hochpustertal. You will discover lake Toblach and the war cemetery; this place was a front line during the First World War. You will then climb gently while skirting the border between South Tyrol and Italy. Following this, head downhill back into the valley, towards your accommodation for the evening in Cortina.

Day 3 Cortina - Belluno
Today you will mainly follow the old railroad. By leaving Cortina you will be able to see Cinque Torre and the splendid lake Sorapis. After having reached Pieve - Calalzo you will have a short transfer on the train until Longarone. From there, continue until you reach your accommodation for the evening in Belluno. Approximately 45km.

Day 4 Belluno - Feltre
From Belluno, the small capital of the province, you will make your way to Feltre, while passing by undulating landscapes.
Approximately 40km.

Day 5 Feltre - Bassano del Grappa
On the way out of Feltre, you will discover lake Corlo, before heading down into the Brenta valley. Where the river and the plain meets is your stopping point for the evening; Bassano del Grappa, a small village where the spirit Grappa comes from.
Approximately 50km.

Day 6 Bassano del Grappa - Trevise
Today you get to say good-bye to the Alps. Cycle through Asolo, a city perfect for a small rest before continuing through the plains towards Trevise, the centre of Italian fashion.

Day 7 Trevise - Venice/Mestre
Following the Sile river, you will cycle in the direction of the Adriatic Sea, until reaching Mestre/Venice, which has been described as “undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man” or “serenissima”. Spend the day discovering the many sights that this fabulous city has to offer.
Approximately 35km.

Day 8 End of your holiday
End of holiday after breakfast. Please contact us to discuss your travel arrangements back to the start of the trip, should you need to (not included in the price)
